Financial advice start-ups and entrepreneurs

Starting your own business, or just launched your own company? When you set up a new enterprise, there’s a lot to consider. How will you finance your business venture or company premises? As an entrepreneur, are you eligible to pay VAT? Will you operate as a sole trader, general partnership (VoF) or a private limited company (BV)? What deductions are you entitled to as an entrepreneur? Have you considered the hours criterion? What are your tax obligations? How will you finance a company car? Who are your clients, and what information will you include on your invoice? What kind of contracts do you need to draw up? In brief: questions that need a quick answer. We’re here to help!

Starting your own business

To set up your own company you need to be well prepared. Here are some tips:

  • Write a business plan
  • Choose a legal form/structure (one-man business, general partnership, or private limited company and/or companies
  • Register with the Chamber of Commerce (Kamer van Koophandel)
  • Open a business bank account
  • Apply for a VAT number (btw-nummer) and/or a payrolling number (loonadministratie nummer)
  • Apply for permits and grants if required
  • Get the appropriate insurance
  • Set up your bookkeeping and accounts
  • Set aside money to pay taxes

Tax and Customs Administration

The Dutch Tax Administration collects a share of your company profits through taxation. Their slogan says it all: ‘We can’t make it any nicer, but we can make it easier.’ The same goes for us. We can help you with everything the Tax Administration needs from you. Leaving you more time to focus on (other) things.

Taking over a business

Like starting your own company, taking over a business is an exciting challenge. Studies show that company take-overs often have a higher survival rate than start-ups.
